| General Purpose of Job:
The Global Database Technical Services (GDTS) group supplies database administration expertise for business units and functions worldwide. A database administrator (DBA) in GDTS provides operational support for deployed databases and participates in internal department initiatives focused on increasing GDTS ability to minimize operational, design, and support costs for clients while increasing database availability, performance, operational integrity (including security). Responsibilities and Duties: Provide operational support for databases according to the Global Database Technical Services SLA commitment (50%). This includes but is not limited to the following: Incident, service request, and change management Database installation and administration Perform backup/recovery procedures Implement patches Review and correction of alerts raised by monitoring systems Administer procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the Companys database environment Write, review, and use team documentation to maintain a standard environment Involvement in On Call rotation Actively involved in the proactive management of subscribed client databases (30%). The activities are focused on protecting business data, ensuring application availability, and maximizing application performance. These activities include but are not limited to: Handle business partner requests and projects Manage database performance Manage database capacity Monitor and correct database security issues Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned (20%). |

| General Education, Knowledge & Skill Requirements:
Required: A university degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent degree SQL Server or Oracle database administration experience Minimum of 3 years of IT experience Able and willing to work non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends, and participate in an on-call rotation as required Strong verbal and written communication skills including fluency in English Able to effectively participate in a virtual, globally distributed team with minimal supervision Strong interpersonal skills, including cultural awareness Solid understanding of infrastructure components (servers, storage, network) Strong customer service skills Want High: A university degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or equivalent degree Working knowledge in both SQL Server (2000 and 2005) and Oracle (9i and 10g) Application development/support or server system administration experience Experience with change and revision control Strong scripting skills (Perl, shell, etc.) Strong SQL skills |
